During the current state of emergency, this class that focused on Self-Love was a welcome respite. The virtual class felt nurturing as well as physically challenging which was much needed during this “couch potato” time in my life. The teacher was wonderful and I look forward to the time that we can do our yoga practice in the studio space in Dorchester.
Jane Silva Depp has been a long-distance runner for most of her life and began practicing yoga in her early forties to give her legs a much needed stretch! While yoga provided the flexibility and comfort she sought, Jane was equally drawn to the practice’s quieter side. The sense of grounding and balance accessed through inward focus on breath, presence, and acceptance quickly became apparent and felt very nourishing to her. Jane also loved the sense of community she felt practicing beside others.
Jane completed her 200-RYT training in 2015 at Darling Yoga in Kansas City. She taught in Kansas City for nearly two years before returning to her hometown of Boston with her family. In addition to her 200-hour, Jane has also completed advanced training in Yin yoga with Emily Peterson. She is a committed practitioner of mindfulness meditation and believes that her experience and studies in this area enrich her yoga teaching.
Jane has a B.S. in nutrition from the University of Vermont and worked on healthcare and wellness programs for companies for several years. She and her husband have the good fortune to be the parents of three daughters. In her classes, Jane strives to create a warm and welcoming environment for all students. Her classes offer graceful flow, stillness in poses, and guided focus on breath and the present moment.
