A newborn baby may not come with an instruction manual, but this class will help new parents feel confidently prepared for their little one's arrival. This 3 hour class covers many aspects of newborn care, post-partum adjustment, and the transition into parenthood. Expectant parents will engage in informative discussions and practice the hands-on skills needed to care for a newborn, giving you the confidence to journey into parenthood. We recommend taking this class after the fourth month of pregnancy but before 36 weeks.
This class is designed to provide expectant parents with the information needed to help prepare for successful nursing. Led by a Certified Lactation Counselor, this class addresses what happens after birth, proper latching and positioning, feeding patterns, common challenges, and the pumping and storage of breast milk. In addition, this class emphasizes learning to breastfeed by seeing how it works: we will look closely at videos and photographic books, and learn precise positioning using props. The combination of up-to-date information and visual aids will give expectant parents the skills and confidence to prepare for successful nursing.
Led by a Certified Lactation Counselor, this workshop covers the most important topics to learn prenatally about breastfeeding:
One labor/support partner is welcome to attend class with each expectant mother free of charge. Participants should wear comfortable clothing that will allow for movement during class.
