I joined Zen and Pow a few short months ago after a trial period. I had not done much for myself in terms of exercising or stress relief in quite a long time.. During that period, I had lost some strength and quite a bit of flexibility, along with adding some unwanted pounds. Regular gyms used to intimidate me for those reasons, but at Zen and Pow, I don’t feel like I cannot do something. All of the instructors are so motivating. They also do an amazing job of offering different ways to do certain exercises or moves that do not make me feel incompetent or embarrassed. I can leave a class here and feel good about the work I did for myself because of how the instructors make me feel and how they design their classes and offer ways for all to participate- no matter what level you are at. Kendra, in particular, was really helpful in Bootcamp when I could not do the burpies. She kindly and discreetly offered a solution that kept me moving. All of the instructors have been so helpful, but this one stuck out to me this week as I can be really hard on myself, and it has been a stressful week. I felt proud of myself when I left. I love the personalized way these classes feel!
Courtney is no stranger to exercise and movement as she grew up a multi-sport athlete playing baseball, soccer, and being a part of a World Champion competitive dance team. After high school she headed off to college to pursue her degree in Exercise and Sports Science with a Nutrition minor. Eventually during her education, she found her way to Zen and Pow which gave her a deeper love for movement and fitness. Courtney is very passionate about group fitness and is always looking for new exercises and combinations to provide you with the most effective, functional, and enjoyable workout. In addition to earning her degree, she continues to complete numerous trainings which include Barre, Pilates, Spin, and Group Fitness!
After moving back to her hometown, she transitioned into a new role of Virtual instructor! You’ll find her leading a wide variety of classes through our virtual studio including HIIT, Bootcamp, Barre, and Quickfire! Courtney’s background in dance makes her choreography fun and creative while still being accessible for all fitness levels.
