I am loving the online yoga classes! I have been practicing yoga for years and I am learning all the things I had forgotten about proper alignment. It is refreshing to have classes that center on health, wellness and healing. Dr. Connie and Gina are great at cueing you for poses and explaining what you should feel and offering alternative poses.
If you think you cannot do yoga, I recommend you try Alkaline Wellness!
Dr. Connie Jeon is the founder of Alkaline Wellness and is an avid health and wellness enthusiast since she was a teenager. In the past she’s enjoyed racquetball, badminton, running, rock climbing, skiing, and hiking. It was a natural course for her to study Psychology, Nutrition, and Physical Therapy. She envisioned a life pursuing her passion in wellness and health. She received her Baccalaureate in Psychology, Masters Degree in Nutrition, and a Doctoral Degree in Physical Therapy. All through school, she was known to be the epitome of health, eating mostly vegan foods, exercising on a regular basis, and remained disciplined in her studies.
Then, during her last year in her Doctoral program in Physical Therapy school, she suddenly became so ill that she needed to take a sick leave from her studies, which was devastating. The worst part was that it took the medical system 8 months to diagnose her condition, which was systemic Lupus. She was given toxic medications to keep the symptoms at bay and no real answers. She felt strongly that there had to be a better way. This experience as a patient in today’s medical system really fueled her interest and passion in finding a “solution” for health and prevention.
After 15 years since being diagnosed with Lupus, while she has tremendous respect for the medical model, she also understands the limitations and is determined to challenge the status quo of the medical system by focusing on “healthcare” rather than “sick” care. She believes that the natural state of the body is the healthy state, that healthcare should be about creating the fertile, alkaline environment for the body to thrive. Utilizing her didactic background, she believes in the three facets of healing, functional movement, functional nutrition, and functional mindfulness. It is her passion to empower her patients and clients to take charge of their own health by functionally moving, functionally eating, and cultivating functional mindfulness to remain healthy and create balance.
There are overwhelming amount of information on the web space today, the vision of the Alkaline Program is to filter through all the information to deliver the quality, evidence based, scientific evidence to the general public.
Connie considers her didactic training as the stepping stone in allowing her to further her education in various healing disciplines. She is committed to continued education and staying at the forefront of research and clinical skills. She is a Functional Medicine Practitioner, is certified in trigger point dry needling, Macrobiotics, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Manual Therapy, Cranio Sacral Therapy, Redcord, Pilates Instructor, Qi Gong, Health-Fitness Specialist, and a Yoga Teacher.
Alkaline Wellness is a way to leverage the power of the internet space to help as many people as possible.
