I tried Body Pump for the first time tonight with Angie. I love how energetic and encouraging she was! She gave a lot of great explanations and modifications. No shame if you can’t keep up or do something wrong. I’m used to going walking up to 7 miles at a brisk pace on a trail without stopping, but my legs felt the difference in this class!!! I definitely got a good workout in despite my shakey knees, wobbly legs and occasional lack of coordination, but I was also reassured that it’s normal for it to feel tough at first. I loved mixing it up!

My day job is teaching English and Performing Arts at Susquehanna Township High School out in Harrisburg. But here is a little secret….I may like teaching group fitness better! When I was a teenager, I became addicted to step aerobics. Since I was at the gym all the time anyway, I decided to get my group fitness certification in 2008. At about that time I started taking Les Mills Body Pump. I was, like most women, fearful that I would develop bulky muscles from lifting weights. But all of the evidence points to the fact that women, especially aging women, need to lift weights to maintain strong bones and avoid osteoporosis. Besides, sculpted muscles are beautiful! I decided to get the Body Pump certification and joined to LJ’s family in 2011. I live in Robesonia with my husband, two kids, and three dogs. I am inspired by the people who come to the classes and love to motivate and push them as they do for me!
