Matt is learning a ton from Andrew about pitching and enjoying the progress he's making. He's also getting good advice on stretching that can help him stay healthy in addition to conditioning he's already doing.
Coach Chizewski grew up playing softball in the western suburbs of Chicago. She attended high school at Nazareth Academy, where she was a four year varsity player.
Mary Grace played shortstop and batted clean up hitter during both her Junior and Senior years. At Nazareth, she garnered East Suburban All-Conference honors, earned a spot on the Cook County All-Area Team, and was named All-Area MVP. Chicago newspapers were filled with stories about her. And she did all of that while while being an academic standout, making the Honor Roll every semester and being one of only nine conference softball players to be named an East Suburban Catholic Conference Scholar Athlete.
After graduating high school, Chizewski played 2 years of club softball at University of Illinois Urbana Champaign. She graduated with her degree in nursing.
As role models go, you won’t find a better one; when she’s not teaching softball, Mary Grace is a nurse in the NICU at Lurie Children’s Hospital.
