My name is Janille Leslie. I retired from the US Navy in August 2016 after 20 years of service. I decided to take a 2-year sabbatical to “figure out” what to do with my life, now that I was retired. I felt unprepared to be a regular “civilian” again and even more unprepared to re-enter the workforce. So, a very good friend helped me with my decision to head back to school.
Fitness has always been a passion of mine and during my military service I held the position of Command Fitness Specialist for over 10 years of my service. So forward and onward to Southwestern College I went for their Fitness Specialist Program. It was very scary and nerve racking to be back in this type of learning environment. Being on campus, around so many people, young and old, was a bit intimidating, but I had to keep pressing forward. Starting my first Fitness and Nutrition class was so fun and exciting that I was totally hooked after my first day of classes.
Now two years after my first class, I have completed the program and in the process of studying for the ACE exam. I had the opportunity to complete the intern program at Fitness Quest 10 in Scripps Ranch this summer and enjoyed a great experience with the staff as well as their members.
I live in Chula Vista, with my two very spoiled pups Diesel and Chloe, who are my absolute best buds. When I’m not working out, I’m at home chillaxin with the pups, listening to or watching self-motivating videos on YouTube. I love hiking; Iron Mountain is my favorite, I love cooking and I absolutely love to train, motivate and help anyone achieve their fitness and nutrition goals. For fun I enjoy hanging with friends and sipping on a nice glass of wine. I cannot express enough, how super excited I am for this awesome opportunity to be here at Evolve!
