Today was my first day taking virtual contortion and handstand press classes with KY Dance. I found my instructor (Victoria K) over Instagram and after following her for some months, I decided to give her classes a try. I'm an adult learner, so I was curious about how well a virtual session would go. I liked that the class size was small, and the instructor gave feedback evenly to each student. Even though there were students on different levels, there was always an adaptable skill for each level, so no one was left out. The classes were well-balanced with strengthening, technique work, and skills, so you never got bored. I'm very excited about continuing classes, and how far I can progress in these courses!
Victoria has loved acro since day one. She trained at a studio in Ottawa that specializes in Acrobatics, which is where she grew up learning all the different aspects of Acro: Contortion, Handstands, Tumbling, and Aerial Arts. While training and competing in Acro and other dance styles, she won multiple regional and national titles along with many special awards for her unique talents. Victoria continues training herself as an acrobat/contortionist but is focused on teaching and providing quality acro training for students of all ages.
Victoria is an Acrobatic Arts Module 3 certified teacher and has taught all levels from Primary to the Pre-Professional level; she is also Alixa Flexibility Module 4 Certified. Her students are recognized for their flexibility, strength and focus on technique on competition stages and international events such as the International Contortion Convention in Las Vegas. She values safe training and proper warm up techniques so that dancers are able to pursue acro for a long time.
Nothing makes her happier than sharing the knowledge she's gained over her years with students who share the same passion as her. She is very excited to teach virtually as it opens up the opportunity for training students from all over the world!
