Today was my first day taking virtual contortion and handstand press classes with KY Dance. I found my instructor (Victoria K) over Instagram and after following her for some months, I decided to give her classes a try. I'm an adult learner, so I was curious about how well a virtual session would go. I liked that the class size was small, and the instructor gave feedback evenly to each student. Even though there were students on different levels, there was always an adaptable skill for each level, so no one was left out. The classes were well-balanced with strengthening, technique work, and skills, so you never got bored. I'm very excited about continuing classes, and how far I can progress in these courses!

Alexis
Alexis Lorette has been training in a multitude of different dance styles ever since she was four years old. She’s trained in ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, musical theatre, hip hop, jazz funk, and so many more. She trained at Sheila Parkins Academy of Dance and Music her whole life. After Sheila’s recent retirement, she now trains at Studio W&A. She recently started acting and modelling.
 
Alexis has danced in New York, LA, and all around Canada for various conventions, intensives and auditions. She has trained with Nuvo, iDance, Jump, Mather Dance company, Move, etc. She has received multiple scholarships and opportunities to train with various professional choreographers. Back in 2018, she became a part of Team Canada Dance and won 2nd place silver medal with a solo choreographed by Leon Blackwood when competing in the Street Dance World Championships. She was the first ever Canadian to be in the top 3 placement for female adult soloists. She has been in a music video called « Gaslight » by Elle de Luna. She has been mentored by the amazing Kim Gingras for over 3 years. She also made a small appearance on the TV show Révolution with her tap group back in 2019. Alexis has also won many overall placements at various dance competitions over the years such as Fever, View dance challenge, Candance, Shine dance, Starquest, etc. Alexis prides herself in helping dancers of all ages overcome their fears and never stop believing in themselves no matter what people may say. She focuses on performance and technique. She always says « you can be the most amazing technical dancer but without that performance in your face and body, you won’t make it in the industry. » Alexis will always help dancers achieve their goals in any way possible.
