I have been doing PiYo DVDs on and off over the lasts couple of years and have wanted to find a live class locally.  Last Saturday I took my first PiYo class, live, with Renee, at The Rhody Center and truly loved it.   It was definitely a challenging class and my muscles are  certainly  feeling it today.  Job well done Renee.  Renee also took the time to explain the moves with modifications, if necessary.  What a difference in taking a live class compared to doing DVDs at home.  In  a live class setting, I tend to push myself a little harder than at home.

I have a few friends who have been doing PiYo at home and are hoping they will join me in taking this class very soon.  I can't wait to come back.

I had never heard of the Rhody Center until finding it online last week. The Rhode Center website is easy to navigate and makes it easy to register for classes online.  I was surprised at the  variety of all the classes offered, from tap, to belly dancing, to Zumba, etc.  I hope to try a few in the near future.  I live in nearby Massachusetts, so Pawtucket is a very convenient location for me.

Wow, thanks, Jude! You passed the audition, welcome aboard! The part about music lifting our spirits...honestly that's probably the main reason why we continue to get together to play. It's like therapy for me! See you next week!

last night I tried the Hip hop for beginners class. Parking was easy. I have never been to the Rhody center before but there were signs that made the class easy to find. While we were waiting for the class to begin Julie, the Director, Came out to introduce herself. She was so friendly and made the paper work process easy. She also broke the ice so it was easy to meet the other students. The class was taught by Billie Perez. He's adorable and has a great energy. I have never taken a hip hop class before and I had a great time. The choreography was easy but still trendy. Billy clearly loves dance and it shows. He made the routine easy to learn and so much fun. I'm definitely signing up for the session. Cant Wait!

Yay! Thanks so much, Aleishia! We enjoyed meeting you and having you in class last night. Billie LOVES to teach this class, and students tend to have a great time in it. I will let him know about your review!

Tap Class II has been a joy. Our instructor Kevin is great and it is a non-judgment zone an believe me I could be judged. LOL. I'm signing up again.

Thanks so much, Deborah! I am glad to hear we are succeeding in our goal of being beginner friendly - "non-judgement zone" is a big compliment! So glad to have you in the class. :D

The level 1 ukelele class with Julie is so much fun.  I enjoy learning new songs, chords, finger picking and strumming patterns, as well as getting to sing a little bit too each week.  This class brings me peace of mind and I look forward to attending each week.

Thank you so much, Bryn! I enjoy it, too!  -Julie

Nita is offering free Zumba classes for the month of October at the Rhody Center for World Music and Dance! FREE class on Sundays at 4 p.m., so  grab your friends who love to dance and give it a try. It’s a fitness dance class where you just follow the leader. The moves are easy to follow and fun, perfect pace for a moderate workout. You DON’T HAVE TO BE A GOOD DANCER! Just willing to let loose and have fun. Nita has a charming smile and great energy. The class is available for dropping in, you don’t even have to commit to a series. Check it out!

Start your weekend off the right way by doing something great for yourself. Go to the Rhody Center and take PIYO. It's offered Saturday morning at 10:30. It's a fun fusion of Pilates & Yoga. It's upbeat, up tempo, modern and you really know the muscle groups you are using. The upstairs room is perfect for the class. It provides plenty of room and mirrors. The instructor for this class, Renee Seitz was very knowledgeable about the subject. She explained, demonstrated moves and sequences and also showed the modifications if needed. All you need to bring is a yoga mat and a smile and a desire to do something nice for yourself. The class flew by. It's fun trying new things, give this a try.

What a great place! I tried out the African dance class and had a great time.  I love that the center offers an opportunity to "try" a class before booking the series. The instructor was really welcoming and right away put students at ease by encouraging us to let go and not think too much about the steps. I think that freed everyone to feel comfortable making "mistakes." Everyone was very friendly.

Thanks so much, Sandy! Welcome to the Rhody Center! Yup, we offer "Try It" Week twice a year -- in September and in January. Seydou's class is great, glad you enjoyed it. :)

How much fun can one have on a hot steamy night in downtown Pawtucket?  Come to the Rhody Center and find out!  I signed up for Salsa Movement as well as Hip Hop and am so glad I did.  The teachers are fun, friendly and so talented. The space is roomy, upbeat - and air conditioned.  The shortened summer classes fit my busy schedule and I have enjoyed them so much, I now literally want to take every dance class they offer.  I am so happy I have found this place and highly recommend it.  It is a great opportunity to get out, meet new people, get some exercise and have fun!

The Rhody Center for World Music and Dance comment

Aww, thanks so much, Leslie! You guys are such a fun bunch. Glad you can join us this summer! And yes, Pawtucket is steamy...I just worked on the cooling of the space some more this weekend. Now I don't want to leave the cool, calming darkness! Just in time...it will be like 90 outside next time we see you!

I signed up for the salsa movement and footwork mini series.  The instructor, Mori, was extremely energetic, friendly, patient, and fun!  The class was loose and not too serious, but I learned a lot!  I would highly recommend this for beginners, whether its just for fun or to really work on your form (in my case, both!).  The studio space itself is a nice size, and my class had 4 people which was great because we got to know each other really well and had plenty of room to spread out.  I cannot wait for more classes!

The Rhody Center for World Music and Dance comment

Thank you so much for your kind words, Meika! Summer is a great time to try a new class. We are so happy you are joining us! Welcome aboard!
