QIGONG/ TAI CHI: 8 Treasures Introductory Workshop

In this introductory workshop we will have a brief discussion of the practice of Qigong and Tai Chi, where they originated from, the lineage adaptions, benefits of its form, and how to let the practice fully meet you where you are. These practices are gentle yet internally provoking, can be practiced seated or standing, and are especially helpful for finding one’s internal flow within the accordance and harmony of nature, allowing one to more fully let go of the thinking mind and listen to the wisdom of the heart and body.

 

The majority of our time together will be within movement, beginning by going over the foundational stances, and then moving through each of the 8 sequences / the 8 Treasures. Each sequence we will go through twice (on each side), once with thorough descriptions of the body positioning, and on the second set with minimal queuing so we can peacefully flow within.

 

Please wear comfortable clothes that can move freely with you.

Yoga and writing complement each other beautifully, both inviting us to reconnect with ourselves authentically in the present moment. In this workshop, you will be guided through a restorative yoga practice, fully supported by props, to deeply relax the body, mind, and soul. From that space of calm and clarity, we put pen to paper to write freely. Quiet writing in community is a sacred act of tapping into our shared innate creativity and honoring our words within. Class will end with a fun writing prompt to complete or contemplate.
 
No writing or yoga experience needed.
Bring your favorite writing materials.
Local organic tea will be provided during writing time.
Writing prompts available if preferred.
Expect a space free of distraction, judgement, and perfection.
 
Off the mat, Kristina, a former journalist, writes stories for children and is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. Her personal essays have appeared in the Connecticut Literary Anthology and Bella Grace Magazine.
