My son loved working with John today for his assessment. I am excited to see the results and to see how the classes improve his speed.
Director of Sports Performance
John began in the most unlikely of soccer cities, Jackson, Mississippi where he was fortunate to develop under the guidance of a knowledgeable father (Bill Lytton – a true pioneer in US Soccer). In high school, recognized as the Mississippi Gatorade Player of the Year and AP State Player of the Year in 1999, John felt the call to leave the South for college and begin his independence in yet another unlikely destination, the University of Massachusetts. After 3 years of soccer and personal success in Amherst, MA he found himself returning to his hometown and finishing his collegiate career at the program his father originated in 1981 at NAIA’s Belhaven University. Upon graduating with a degree in Exercise Science, John made his professional playing debut in Brazil and after a short lived career he returned to the States where he is currently living in Charlotte, NC.
Since 2006, John has worked with hundreds of athletes in Charlotte, across the country, and even internationally. He has held or currently holds certifications with the most well respected associations in the training industry, including being a strength and conditioning specialist with the National Strength and Conditioning Association, a United States Weightlifting Club Coach, and a certified Functional Movement Screen Expert. John has worked in various roles such as: Performance Director at Charlotte Soccer Club and assisting the off season speed and conditioning program for the NFL’s Carolina Panthers. He currently consults with several youth clubs and college programs around the country in addition to running Charlotte’s premiere soccer specific training company.
