Today, in addition to using our pilates stick, Marybeth used washcloths, paper plates, and 2 sides of a cereal box as props to replicate exercises we usually do on the reformer. The props became the carriage on the reformer. Placing our feet on the paper plates (or parts of a Kashi box) we were able to slide our legs apart and pull them together, using our thighs and challenging our balance (think “Pick the flowers” sequence on the reformer). So simple and so awesome. We also used them to enhance some mat exercises. No idle hands, no devil’s workshop at Marybeth’s house during the shutdown: she’s working hard to keep us fit and sane. Ken started at Marlborough Pilates as a client in 2017. He came to our studio with a few years of prior Pilates experience. After undergoing a total hip replacement at a young age, he turned to Pilates to help rehabilitate his body. Ken has been progressing in Pilates ever since. Ken enjoys helping people and he has prior experience teaching martial arts so teaching Pilates is a great fit for him. His first priority in completing Pilates Teacher Training was to help his own body heal and remain strong. He is such a natural teacher that it is almost impossible for him not to share his knowledge with others. Ken adds a bit of humor to every group class and private session he teaches. Ken has a kind and gentle way about him that makes clients feel comfortable. He has a strong desire to help people understand how to maintain their own health and wellbeing by teaching them how to incorporate exercises into their daily routine. Our clients often share how much they enjoy Ken's classes and how he combines a good challenge with clear explanations of proper technique. Ken is also a talented carpenter.
