I joined the studio last Fall and really felt comfortable learning both salsa and bachata with Soul and Nadège. I found them not only competent and pedagogic in their approcah, but they are also full of life and laughs, patient with us who may not catch as easily and as quickly as others. I am so thankful for these two! We are able to have a modicum of socialisation during this hard time because of their flexibility (they took the classes outside, weather permitting) and went to bat so that studios can remain open for teaching. Kuddos to their determination. I would recommend Studio X to anyone who wants to learn social dancing.
In 1998, I move to Ottawa to study and I started to take salsa classes on and off while studying. During my second year at the University, I decided to rekindle my fitness passion and to get a gym membership that I still have today. Once I finished University, I decided to expend my vocabulary and take other kind of dance classes along with salsa. After sometimes, I got the opportunity to perform in various Salsa events in North America.
In 2007, my boyfriend and I decided to go take some classes in
Montreal, as well as other North American cities, which led to the
creation of our group: Blackanese Mambo. I am still taking various
dance classes, such as Afro-Cuban, Ballet, Ballet Jazz, Ballroom,
Belly Dance, Guinean Dance, Haitian Dance, Hip Hop, Reggaeton and
Salsa (on1 and on2) with great teachers from all over the world
(Edson Vallon, Audrey Gaussiran, Caroline Paré, San Tropez, David
Zepeda, Paulina Posadas, Masacote Dance Company, Karel Flores,
Eddie/Maria Torres, Yvonne Gutierrez and many more); and I still
love fitness!
Now, after having completed my group fitness certification and
being a licensed Zumba instructor, I want to bring my love for
fitness and all those dances together at Studio X Ottawa.
