I found this place after I was introduced to Acro Yoga at another studio but had the same instructor at both places. Scott is an excellent instructor who makes learning Acro Yoga fun and obtainable. He does a good job of starting with the basics and then accommodating more experienced users by giving challenges and building on the level of difficulty. He monitors, assists, and gives attention to everyone in the class. He makes everyone feel welcome and is very helpful with his recommendation and suggestions of other courses. As a single mom of a child, it is hard to find places to go with my child. When I mentioned the issue, I was encouraged to bring my child to class. Not only did I have a blast, but my son did too. He said that it was WAY cooler than he expected and that is pretty high praise from a 9 year old. I also have really enjoyed how he has partnered and co-taught with other instructors. Hearing how both the “flyer” and the “base” work through and do their part is very helpful for me when I am getting into the positions for the first time. I look forward to exploring more classes at this studio.
Jeni has been practicing aerial arts since December 2016 and Partner Acro since February 2018. She specializes in dance and static trapeze, and incorporates a blend of traditional dynamic skills with contemporary dance trapeze. Jeni continually trains other aerial apparatuses to be well-rounded and to inspire her trapeze journey through aerial theory. She practices hand to hand and standing acrobatics as a part of Team Acro Seal with her boyfriend.
As an instructor, Jeni enjoys seeing her students grow with confidence and strength during their aerial journey.
Jeni graduated with her Masters degree in Public Health in December . Her capstone project was safety and injury prevention in circus arts for her internship project. Her goal is to work in areas that promote health and well-being.
Jeni placed third at the 2019 Aerialympics Nationals in Salt Lake City, Utah in the Specialty Apparatus Category (performing on dance trapeze).
Jeni currently trains at Vertical Fix, and visits the San Diego Circus Center to train advanced trapeze skills under Tatiana Starks and Lora Kapleczak, and has trained under Kelsi Mathey in the past. Past training studios include the Circus Academy of Tucson (Katherine Tesch).
