Today was Over-55 Reformer Pilates class number 7 (I think). There was a new lady in the class today, and listening to her (normal) newbie questions I realised that I am starting to know what I'm doing! And that is all due to Abby, who has helped me so much! She still checks in with me before and after the class to make sure I am okay, and gives me tips to tweak the movements during the class - but when I feel her looking at me and not saying anything, I know I am doing okay. Abby, I love your support and professionalism. Thank you!
I have always been interested in discovering how the body moves and works which lead me on the path of physiotherapy. I completed my Masters of Physiotherapy at the University of Sydney in 2017 and have worked across private practise since graduating.
After experiencing back and hip issues myself when I was younger, I started doing Pilates for rehabilitation. This led me to begin my Pilates training journey through APPI training in 2015 and have since completed my Certificate IV in Pilates at Breathe Education in 2019. I have since used Pilates as a core component of my treatment regime for the majority of my patients
I love helping people find a way to enjoy exercise and movement, especially the ones that think they will never like it at all! I wholeheartedly believe that Pilates and Clinical Exercise can benefit everyone wanting to better their strength, mobility or just their general wellbeing no matter their age or fitness level.
I have a particular soft spot for hip and leg injuries. Whether it be sporting injuries, pregnancy pains, age related issues or general strength and manage through the legs. I find it extremely rewarding watching people getting stronger and trusting their bodies to move in ways they may not have for a long time. Away from work I love spending time hiking, in the Pilates studio or outdoors reading a good book.
