In this 5-day “Fashion Track Sewing Camp” students create a hands-on project that allows them to acquire design skills while improving their technical sewing skills.  Project choices include an easy garment or fashion accessory, such as skirts, bags, hair ornaments, etc.

Fashion Track participants learn about the design process and use their sewing skills to create an original fashion item.  They will complete the following activities during the 3-Day Fashion Track Camp: 

n    ~  Compile a Design Journal to develop & document their ideas for projects

n    ~  Practice sketching techniques to create a visual image of their design

n     ~  Use simple pattern drafting skills to create pattern pieces, or make changes to commercial patterns. 

n      ~  Test their design and pattern on a practice version of their project

n      ~  Produce and sew their final design

The “Fashion Track” goals are to learn to think and work like a designer while developing technical sewing skills; and to create and make an original fashion item.

This Sewing Camp has the following pre-requisites:
   ~   Students must be at least 10 years old
   ~   Must have attended a 3-Day or 5-Day Thimble Fingers Summer Sewing Camps 
   ~  Must have sufficient sewing experience to independently operate a sewing machine,
         or have sewn a few simple garments or craft items
