This Appointment Is:
A comprehensive introductory session designed to set you up for success in your private Pilates or fitness journey. Your instructor will thoroughly review your health history, fitness background, injuries, limitations, and goals, then introduce you to the equipment through a guided physical assessment. You’ll experience basic exercises that help your instructor understand your current movement patterns, strength, flexibility, and any compensation patterns or areas needing special attention. This is your foundation session—where we gather essential information to create your personalized training plan.
This Appointment Is Not:
A full workout or training session. While you will move and try exercises, the primary focus is assessment, education, and planning—not achieving a fitness result. You may break a light sweat during the physical assessment portion, but this is an introductory, information-gathering appointment.
What to Expect:
Health History Review:
Your instructor will ask detailed questions about:
- Past and current injuries
- Surgeries or medical conditions
- Pain or discomfort patterns
- Previous fitness experience
- Daily activities and lifestyle
- Specific limitations or concerns
- What you hope to achieve
Physical Assessment:
You’ll perform basic movements while your instructor observes:
- Standing posture and alignment
- Range of motion in major joints
- Core strength and stability
- Balance and coordination
- Basic movement patterns (squat, hinge, push, pull)
- Flexibility and mobility
- Breathing patterns
- Any compensation or asymmetries
Equipment Introduction:
Depending on whether you’re pursuing reformer or fitness training, you’ll be introduced to:
- Reformer: Reformer setup, springs, straps, carriage, basic positions
- Fitness: Relevant equipment (weights, bands, props, etc.)
