The dance track contains intensive lessons in Hip Hop, Afro-Caribbean, and Musical Theater. Students will start the day learning Hip Hop fundamentals, which involves the study of old school movements and music, with a focus on technique, style, and improvisation. Moving into the middle of the day, students will travel across the diaspora, studying the style and culture of African and Caribbean dance. This class teaches technique, language, and rudimentary movements. To end the day, students join together with those enrolled in the music track in a Musical Theater class, in which they will be able to use skills learned throughout the day to work on various snippets of top Broadway productions to be performed at the end of the program. This class will focus on emoting, memorization, confidence, leadership, and teamwork. In addition, dance students will have the opportunity to participate in elements of the music track. This program is intended for students ages 9 through 12.
