For violinists and violists with no or minimal prior experience on the instrument. Students will learn about the parts of the instrument, how to properly maintain the instrument, basic tuning, basic note and rhythm reading on the D and A strings, proper body and hand position, basic bowing techniques, and basic music theory and history. Students will be required to perform a recital/concert (solo, small ensemble, and/or full ensemble) at the end of the semester, format will depend upon class size(s), instrumentation, and instructor discretion.

Required materials: *Instrument,*case, *bow, *rosin, *shoulder bar, a clip-on tuner, pencil, *Essential Elements for Strings, Book 1 for their instrument, *Suzuki Violin/Viola School, Volume 1 for their instrument. (*Items may be ordered/found at Ernie Williamson Music in Park Hills).

A parent or guardian must be present at the first class to meet with the instructor.

There is a 4 student minimum for this class. If the minimum enrollment is not met, you will be notified by the instructor and will offerred private lessons for an increased fee, an option to merge with or choose another class, or wiil be offerred a refund.
This is an 8 week course for $120. Payment installations are available. Contrary to the date confirmation, this course begins the week of October 14.
