Solveig's Song begins in 952 AD with Solveig, a Viking widow whose love and strength forge a legacy that echoes through her descendants. From the fjords of Norway to mid-century and present-day California, her lineage is carried forward by four women: Ruth, her daughters Jill and Elsie, and their dear friend Astrid. 

While separated from her husband, Ruth develops a romance with a German soldier during WWII. Jill finds love early on but must learn to navigate the loss of a child and her family’s suffering. Elsie leaves her first love for a luxurious life in America, where she suffers extreme physical and sexual abuse in her marriage to a rich doctor. Astrid becomes a single mother after her husband abandons her and her child and years later finds herself in the arms of an unlikely friend. Each must discover the enduring power of love to heal and connect across time.
