For those new or relatively new to Iyengar Yoga. Fast-paced class for healthy beginners. Although there is no age limit, the class is designed for those under 40. Expect continual movement with minimal props for one hour. Must have healthy feet, ankles, knees, for jumping. Focus on conditioning and learning basic postures with alignment.
This series is designed for people who want to learn yoga as a rigorous, intelligent practice rather than a casual workout. Those new to Iyengar Yoga should take Beginners classes for at least one year.
“Beginner” does not mean easy. It means learning correctly from the beginning. Classes focus on clear instruction, precise alignment, and the development of strength, mobility, and attention over time.
This series is appropriate for healthy adults who are new to yoga, as well as those with prior experience who want stronger fundamentals and a more systematic approach. You do not need to be flexible or athletic, but you should be willing to work, listen carefully, and practice consistently.
The series progresses week by week. Regular attendance is expected, as each class builds on the previous one.
