Beginner Cumbia Series with Benny & Ashley
Thursdays 6:30pm
Part 1: September 4-25
Part 2: October 2-30
Join us for a rare chance to learn Cumbia, one of the most popular and joyful Latin partner dances! Originating in Colombia, Cumbia blends African, Indigenous, and Spanish influences, and is danced all across Latin America with its own regional flavors. It’s known for its playful rhythm, easy-to-pick-up steps, and infectious energy that gets everyone smiling on the dance floor.
This monthly beginner-friendly series, led by Benny and Ashley, will guide you through the fundamentals of Cumbia footwork, partner connection, and musicality. No partner or experience needed—just bring your curiosity and get ready to move!

In this high-energy class, you'll learn the fundamentals of both dance styles, starting with a dynamic warm-up to get your body moving and your energy flowing.
We’ll break down essential steps and techniques with a focus on body expression, rhythm, and the signature flair of Brazilian funk. Expect to explore a range of fun, empowering movements that highlight hip action, footwork, and that bold, playful attitude these styles are known for.
Whether you’re brand new or looking to sharpen your skills, this class is perfect for anyone wanting to dance, express themselves, and build confidence. Led by Emi (@emimuguni)—a seasoned choreographer, dancer, and instructor—this is your chance to move with intention and let loose!
