Beginner / Intermediate Aerial Silks - Sep/Oct Term 2025
Sep 2, 2025 - Oct 21, 2025

Split Level Classes: This is a split level curriculum class which means there may be students from the Beginner and Intermediate Aerial Silks curriculum levels in this class. If you are not sure what level you are at, please speak to your instructor or inquire with reception before registering. All students in split level classes will receive individualized instruction at their current level. See the Beginner and Intermediate Silks level descriptions for more information about each level.

Beginner Silks: Beginner Aerial Silks is the next step in a students journey after Intro to Fabric if they decide to join the Aerial Silks stream of the curriculum. Students will learn to tie footlocks, climb the silks, and begin to work on unsupported inverts and hipkeys as appropriate. Students will transfer some of their hammock poses to the footlock, while expanding their vocabulary substantially to include skills on double skills footlocks, single silks footlocks, inverted skills, and some fun extras! The idea of fabric theory is introduced and students will learn body flags and many variations. All students are unique and progress at their own pace, generally students should expect to spend 4-8 months minimum in the Beginner Silks level.

Intermediate Silks: Intermediate Aerial Silks represents an important transition point in a student's fabric journey. Students will begin to transition away from footlock based skills and develop their strength in knee hook and hipkey positions. Moving up and building on the skills and strength built in Beginner Silks, students in Intermediate Silks will work on moving skills up into the air, training their aerial inversions, learning more intricate wraps, and begin to work on introductory drops. Student’s fabric theory knowledge will expand greatly as they learn new wraps from the knee hook and hipkey positions as well as some completely novel positions. All students are unique and progress at their own pace, generally students should expect to spend 4-8 months minimum in the Intermediate Silks level.

Classic Burlesque Performance Troupe with Sassy Ray - Halloween Edition (Sep/Oct 2025)
Sep 2, 2025 - Oct 21, 2025
In this 8 week session, you will learn classic burlesque style group choreography that you will perform at our Brass Butterflies Halloween Party and Showcase, in the Brass Butterflies studio on Saturday, October 25, 2025. Sassy will guide you through learning the steps and polishing the group routine in a supportive group atmosphere.

PERFORMANCE COMMITMENT:
By registering for this session you are committing to attending all sessions and rehearsals, learning the choreography and performing in the show on October 25, 2025. It is very important for the experience of everyone in the troupe that you commit to attending all sessions. The rest of your troupe is counting on you! If you have to miss any of the weekly sessions (due to illness or emergency), you may be asked to practice on your own time to catch up, take on a reduced role, or to drop out of the performance, without refund, on a case-by-case basis.

ADDITIONAL INVESTMENT: Troupe participants will be expected to purchase either a pre-made costume or supplies to make your own costume as well as appropriate shoes (details to be given during the session). While every effort will be made to keep costume costs affordable (we love DIY and upcycling), it could still cost upwards $100+. This cost is NOT included in the class fee and should be budgeted for when deciding to register. Should a student have to drop out of the performance for any reason after the instructor or studio has incurred expenses for group costumes on their behalf, the student will still be expected to reimburse these expenses.

SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT ADULT CONTENT: Burlesque dance generally involves strip-tease elements and choreography and techniques taught may involve stripping down to bottoms and pasties. Sassy is a ferocious advocate of empowering people to love and celebrate their bodies, no matter their shape, size, age, or ability, and she creates a safe and supportive environment in which to explore this. That said, nobody who participates in this class will be pressured to go beyond where they feel safe in that exploration. You will always have the choice to opt out of or adapt any part of class or the choreography that you do not wish to participate in without pressure or judgment.

PRICING Students may register using 8-Week Curriculum Class purchase options or using their membership curriculum class credits. Please see note about special cancellation and refund policy, student commitment, and additional investment in the Special Instructions section.

No refunds, no make-ups or transfer to another class for Burlesque troupe classes. Please review our other studio policies before registering.
