We are often told that as we age, our bodies will become tight, limited, and less capable. What if that’s just a myth?
With Hanna Somatics we see that human bodies are resilient and capable of staying limber, strong, and graceful at any age. Inspired by Thomas Hanna’s lessons on the “myth of aging”, this 6-week series will guide you through gentle, slow, Hanna Somatic movements that will help you decrease chronic tension, movement limitation, and pain and increase your coordination and balance.
Students who attend the full series will receive an audio download of a short Hanna Somatics daily practice. Drop-ins are welcome for students who cannot make the whole series. Classes are verbally guided and will be taught in reclined positions on the floor.
Recorded replay with one week unlimited access will be sent to all students.
Use your class pass, enroll in the full series, or drop in.

Join Melissa for three new pre-recorded yin yoga sessions that honor the richness of both harvest and transformation that the Autumn season brings to our lives. Autumn is a time of year that the experience of change, harvest and surrender is all around us as the leaves begin to change, peak in their beautiful colors, and finally surrender to the earth. Each week she will be sharing a different intention that will be woven throughout the class.
Saturday, October 4th –
Embracing Change
This class will interweave Yoga
philosophy and contemporary poetry to explore our relationship to
change in our lives. The sequence will be focused on the hip
flexors and spine with psoas releasing postures, supported
backbends, and twists.
Saturday, October 11th –
Harvest
This class will focus on receiving
abundance by way of contemporary spiritual and poetic teachings.
One of the most beautiful aspects of the Autumn is the harvest of
the Summer season and preparing for Winter. This class will be
slower paced and provide restorative yin postures that open the
hips and spine.
Saturday, October 18th –
Surrender
This class will bring forth teaching
on the concept of Īśvarapraidhāna from Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras,
translating as “surrender to something greater than oneself.” The
falling leaves in Autumn reflects such a beautiful metaphor of
surrender. This class will bring poetry and philosophy into the
exploration of supported postures, breath awareness, and softening
into the natural unfolding of the body.
These three classes will culminate with the Yin Intensive honoring Samhain, the midpoint between the Autumn Equinox and the Winter Solstice.
