Our next foundational 200-hour yoga teacher training begins in August 2025! Come chat with lead teacher Alexandra DeSiato in this free information session.
Drop in early before her 4:30 class and then take the class as our free guest (please register by signing up for this info session so we know to hold a spot for you in class), or come at class time and stick around afterward to ask questions.
Alexandra will talk about what she wishes she had known before she started her first YTT, what goes on in the classroom, and next steps after the program. You’ll also get to talk with other prospective trainees.

Our foundational 200-hour yoga teacher training gives you all the tools you need to lead well-balanced yoga classes and to deepen your own practice. You will learn invaluable skills for use in the yoga classroom—and you’ll find these skills apply in a variety of situations. You’ll also learn loads about yourself. That means this program is a fine choice even if you think you have no desire to teach.
This seven-weekend program is led by professional educator Alexandra DeSiato, E-RYT500—herself a graduate of the program. We start in January 2025, and we really hope you will join us. Sign up before December 1 for the early bird rate!
Our program gives you a thorough grounding in:
- the philosophy and history of yoga
- the yoga techniques of asana (poses), pranayama (breath work), and meditation—nuts and bolts, safe practices
- anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology, from both Western and Eastern perspectives
- teaching skills, from language to sequencing to modifications
- how to create an inclusive classroom
Your lead teacher, Alexandra DeSiato, has twenty years’ experience leading college classrooms and fifteen years’ experience teaching movement, including Pilates and yoga. A masterful communicator, Alexandra is coauthor of three books: Lifelong Yoga and Teaching Yoga Beyond the Poses, both cowritten with teacher training program director Sage Rountree, and Whole Mama Yoga, cowritten with day-one Carrboro Yoga teacher Lauren Sacks.
We meet seven weekends over four months. This model allows for a deeper dive and an opportunity for self-study, plus the freshness of a compact timeline.

In this workshop, geared to teachers from any background, you'll learn how to design and lead restorative yoga classes.
This reverse-classroom workshop includes a preassignment and follow-along classes (lucky you!) to complete before we meet, so please budget at least seven hours to prepare your homework in the weeks before the workshop.
Our in-person sessions will:
+ Create a clear definition of what constitutes restorative
yoga—and what differentiates it from gentle yoga and yin yoga
+ Take a bird's-eye view of the nervous system and its experience
in restorative yoga
+ Workshop the student experience in restorative yoga classes, so
we can empathize with and serve our students better
+ Prompt you to design restorative sequences; you'll also get full
class plans to use right away
+ Experiment with perfect prop placement for every body
+ Build your confidence in leading students of every age and level
of ability
+ Give you a warm, supportive environment in which to practice your
newfound restorative yoga teaching skills and prop expertise
