Yoga for People who don’t do Yoga...Yet
Have you been curious about yoga, but haven’t been ready to take the next step? Or has it been a while since you practiced?
Whether you're an absolute beginner or are looking for a refresher, our 4-week beginner series is the perfect place to start.
The program will focus on clear and safe alignment in foundational poses. It will lay the groundwork for you to continue your yoga journey with confidence. At the end of 4 weeks, you’ll be prepared to join a basic flow class or yoga foundations.
Class size is limited.
In this workshop your practice will be accompanied and guided by live music. Igor will play the harmonium. If there are enough participants who sign up early, Igor will bring in a master Indian tabla percussionist for that evening. Therefore, if you are interested, please sign up early. Thank you!
Twisting postures have so many benefits ranging from
strengthening the obliques and upper back and opening the chest
muscles, to plumping the discs between the vertebrae for healthier
spine and wringing out the organs allowing fresh blood flow into
them.
This two-hour class will start slow with supine twists and other
postures to warm the body before moving into a heat-building flow
to prepare you for some deeper twists. We'll end with seated twists
and some well-earned restoratives before a long savasana.
Over the course of 11 weekends from January to November, you’ll refine and challenge your knowledge of precise alignment, intelligent sequencing, anatomy, injury prevention, hands-on assisting, daily meditation, and ancient yoga philosophy and history, and, of course, teaching. You’ll refine your time management skills, ability to change your sequence on the fly and understanding of the bodies in, and energy of, the room. You’ll have the opportunity to observe classes and read the room from a different point of view by assisting live classes, getting hands-on practical experience. We’ll explore in more depth Restorative, Yin, Beginners, Ayurveda, the Subtle Body, meditation.
To deepen your practice as a consummate learner, each Saturday and Sunday will include asana designed to explore advanced postures as well as three hours of philosophy and history discussion on Friday nights. In depth posture labs will allow you to see and pinpoint the differences in tight bodies verses more flexible bodies. In addition, you’ll analyze and discuss strategies for commanding the room whether you are teaching beginners, seniors, injured or pregnant students, or even those who distract and challenge the teaching environment.
It’s time to find your own voice, become a leader in your field and have the ability to lead workshops, retreats and specialized yoga classes.
