Most people have tight hips from postural habits created by certain exerise or simply sitting too much. Opening your hips in all directions can not only feel great within your body but also helps to support the surrounding joints (knees and low back) that tend to take on the work of tight hips. This 2-hour workshop aims to stretch and lengthen the hamstrings, the quadriceps and other hip flexors, as well as the inner thighs.
Class will start slowly stretching the hips and work toward a heat-building sequence that both challenges and opens the muscles around the hip socket. There will be the option to practice a more complicated hip opener and then class will end with a few sweet restorative hip openers and a nourishing savasana.
*Knowledge of the vinyasa is necessary. Participants are welcome to modify up or down as they need.

Yoga Nidra + Reiki + Sound Bath invites us to slow down, switch off, & rest, stimulating our body’s natural ability to heal itself. It’s in this expansive space of deep rest that we can reconnect with our essential nature of wholeness.
We are excited to collaborate with Reiki Practitioner and teacher, Judy Bousquin, who will be offering the energetic healing practice of Reiki as we slip into a deep state of relaxation through restorative poses and Yoga Nidra meditation led by Deb Rockwell. Terrie Floyd will be adding resonant crystal sound healing to make this event even more profound.
Deb will lead us through some restorative poses to prepare our bodies and guide us through Yoga Nidra, an expansive & nurturing practice that cultivates a state of deep relaxation & inner awareness.
Reiki, a gentle energy healing practice, will be offered intuitively by Reiki Practitioner, Judy Bousquin, throughout the practice to help clear energetic blockages, restore balance, and support your body’s natural healing processes.
Crystal bowls will be played live by Terrie Floyd to soothe the nervous system, enhance your meditative state, and bring the body into energetic harmony.
No prior experience with yoga or meditation is needed. Simply come as you are, and allow yourself to be supported, held, and restored.
Over the course of 11 weekends from January to November, you’ll refine and challenge your knowledge of precise alignment, intelligent sequencing, anatomy, injury prevention, hands-on assisting, daily meditation, and ancient yoga philosophy and history, and, of course, teaching. You’ll refine your time management skills, ability to change your sequence on the fly and understanding of the bodies in, and energy of, the room. You’ll have the opportunity to observe classes and read the room from a different point of view by assisting live classes, getting hands-on practical experience. We’ll explore in more depth Restorative, Yin, Beginners, Ayurveda, the Subtle Body, meditation.
To deepen your practice as a consummate learner, each Saturday and Sunday will include asana designed to explore advanced postures as well as three hours of philosophy and history discussion on Friday nights. In depth posture labs will allow you to see and pinpoint the differences in tight bodies verses more flexible bodies. In addition, you’ll analyze and discuss strategies for commanding the room whether you are teaching beginners, seniors, injured or pregnant students, or even those who distract and challenge the teaching environment.
It’s time to find your own voice, become a leader in your field and have the ability to lead workshops, retreats and specialized yoga classes.
