The Winter Warmer has become our
way of serving the community in alignment with the essence of these
teachings. Many of the practices we share were gifted to us through
ancestral and cultural lineages beyond our own. Wisdom and
disciplines from the East have guided us into our breath and body,
while plant medicines from the South have reconnected us with
Mother Earth’s unconditional love for humanity. Together, these
pathways root us into the present moment, the infinite Now, where
Prana flows, gentle and free.
It is an honor to be entrusted with such ancient traditions. As
Westerners raised in a young and ambitious country, our roots have
largely been economic. We have been shaped by a culture of
productivity, finances, and transactional exchange. And yet, these
practices predate many modern economies altogether. In fact, Cacao
itself was once a form of currency, as was the Dharma. Though this
wisdom was never bought or sold. It moved through communities by
way of generosity, devotion, faith, and care.
By offering a day of high-quality, accessible practices, we return to the original intention behind these lineages. Their true nature. We step into what Robin Wall Kimmerer so beautifully described in Braiding Sweetgrass as the gift economy: an exchange rooted in reciprocity, relationship, and reverence rather than extraction or profit.
Operating a business while also holding true to the way these healing modalities were always meant to be shared is a practice of balance. The Winter Warmer is one way we restore that balance. By ensuring that everyone has access to these practices regardless of financial circumstance, even if for a single day.
With deeply caring, well-studied, and experienced teachers and facilitators, and held by one of the most loving and generous communities on the planet, the healing power of even one day spent together as Sangha is immeasurable.
Please join us on Sunday, January 4th in celebration of
community wellness, shared practice, fresh starts, and collective
joy for our favorite event of the year: Mati’s 2nd Annual Winter
Warmer. A full day dedicated to movement, reflection, creativity,
nourishment, and healing, experienced together. United in practice,
we become a bright radiant light in the depths of winter.
In practicing side by side, we remember that health is not a solo
journey. It’s a devotion we cultivate in relationship. We are so
excited to gather, warm our bodies and hearts, and become healthier
together, yet again. All are welcome.
