Gather the Women! Dance Your Way to the Divine Through Indian Dance.
RVY invites you to join Devapria Gokani for an afternoon workshop and gathering focused on explorative Indian dance for women. No previous experience is necessary!
Indian dance is rooted in a rich tradition, developed during a time when humanity lived in harmony with itself, others, and nature. This art form has historically served as a medium for expressing all aspects of the human experience—physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. It celebrates the complexity of human existence, including the paradoxes and opposites. Dance was used as a joyful celebration, a form of therapy, and a spiritual practice.
In this Indian dance workshop, we will open a new vocabulary for the female body to express itself. We will create a space for exploring the softer, subtler, and more sensitive qualities that make us unique. By allowing our deeper truths the freedom to breathe, we become more expansive and vibrant.
We invite you to explore yourself through this medium in a playful, joyful, and non-judgmental atmosphere. Women of all ages and physical abilities are welcome!
About Devapria Gokani -Born in 1964 into an Indian family, Devapria started learning and practicing Yoga and various Indian dance styles as a child. From a very young age, she had already performed as a dance and drama artist on big and small stages. At the same time, she practiced active meditations that used free dance as a medium of coming in touch with one’s inner core of stillness and silence. As a teenager, she was exposed to other international dance styles and forms of meditative movements like the Gurdjief Movements.
She has also been seeped in Ayurveda and massage for longer than she can remember. She is trained in Deep Tissue Massage (Rebalancing), Holistic Massage, Cranial Biodynamics, Ayurvedic Yoga Massage, Hawaiian Massage, Japanese Facial Massage, Holistic Counseling, Primal Therapy, Laughter Yoga, and ISP (Integral Somatic Psychology).
She leads dance workshops and massage trainings and gives individual sessions in many countries. Her meditative attitude is her most important source of inspiration and strength.
