For centuries one of the most powerful women in the Western spiritual imagination has been living inside someone else's story.

Mother Mary — Temple-consecrated, prophetically fierce, cosmologically initiated — was slowly rewritten into an icon of passivity. The perpetual virgin. The obedient vessel. The woman who asked nothing and endured everything. Her original self was not lost. It was buried.

In this Beltane circle we use Mary's story as a mirror. Because what was done to her,the assignment of roles, the editing of inconvenient power, the reduction of a full human soul into a symbol someone else needed, is something most of us know from the inside.

Through history, gnostic texts, archetype and reflection we ask the questions that reclamation requires. Who wrote the role I've been playing? What did I know about myself before the script began? What would it mean to sign my own name?

This is not a circle about becoming something new. It is about unbecoming everything that was never really you and finding underneath it all who you were always meant to be.

We meet at Beltane — the ancient threshold festival — because this is exactly the right moment to cross from someone else's story into your own.
