Menopause Yoga for All Stages & Ages
 
Introducing a new weekday series, with Roisin McGlynn (@Meant_to_Pause_Yoga), for yogis who are approaching perimenopause (as early as 35) or already in the middle of perimenopause or post menopause. Each class will offer evidence-based yoga practices and tools to help address the common symptoms of menopause such as chronic stress, anxiety, fatigue, brain fog, body ache and mood swings. Unique to menopause yoga, Roisin is an 80-hour certified menopause yoga teacher who deeply understands the biology, neuroscience and psychology of the inevitable female reproductive aging timeline. You can expect to feel supported and seen, with cues and prompts allowing you to explore what's showing up in your own mind and body with time for meditation and journaling. Prior yoga experience is not required. Chairs and supports are plentiful. Community and understanding is guaranteed. All lived experiences of menopause are real and welcome. Attendance in all 6 classes is not required, but encouraged.

Derived from the Yoga tradition, iRest is an evidence-based approach with research that shows it is helpful with healing anxiety, sleep, and chronic pain disorders, as well as increasing wellbeing and joy.

This special Friday Night class begins with simple movement to help you ease tension in the body, followed by calming breath work before the deeply relaxing and restorative practice of Yoga Nidra.

No previous experience is necessary, and all are welcome.

Navigating Emotions: An iRest® Journey Through the Koshas

Curious, bored, excitement, dread, neutral, joyful, hopeless, grateful and the list goes on and on… It’s normal to label emotions as negative or positive, but what if we can learn how to meet our emotions as messengers?

People often ask me, “Why in the world would I want to feel my uncomfortable emotions?” Research shows us that regular doses of mild to moderate discomfort can make us more resilient to future discomfort. It has also been found that pushing away or resisting what we think of as “negative” emotions also dulls our ability to feel the “good” or the joyful ones. The more we are able to meet our emotions, the better able we are to be with others in the midst of their emotions. It’s a win-win situation.
 
In this 4-week series we will be incrementally and kindly, growing our ability to be with our emotional content taking plenty of time to cultivate and then rest in our Inner Resource so that when we are meeting emotions it is from a grounded center. Then we will explore ways of using the iRest Yoga Nidra foundation practices to meet any emotional guests.
 
When we practice iRest® Yoga Nidra, we take a journey through the koshas, a Sanskrit term meaning sheath or layer. The koshas are the layers that make up our humanness, such as the body, our breath & energy, emotions, beliefs, well-being, and the finer points of the ego. You will be encouraged to go at your own pace, meeting what feels appropriate for you.
 
In each class there will be an orientation as well as 1-2 iRest meditations. There will also be time for questions and reflections. Each class will be recorded and made available for 6 months to help support you in your personal practice.
This series is for any level of student. All are welcome.
