HIPAA compliance

As a part of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), regulations for the protection of protected health information (PHI) were put forward by the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). These regulations were published as the HIPAA Privacy Rule and the HIPAA Security Rule.

The HIPAA Privacy Rule determines the security standard for PHI. The HIPAA Security Rule uses the HIPAA Privacy Rule to determine the security standards required for all electronic protected health information (e-PHI). This rule was established with the flexibility to allow organizations to utilize new technologies while still adhering to HIPAA compliance.

If your company handles e-PHI, security methods that adhere to HIPAA compliance must be in place. WellnessLiving provides a fully HIPAA compliant software system to your business and clients.
