Managing appointment categories

You can group your appointments into categories to keep them organized. Appointment categories appear as expandable headings on the Appointments page. You can create, modify, deactivate, and reactivate an appointment category. You can also sort the appointments in each category to determine how they are displayed on the Book Now tab of the Client Web App.

NoteIf both an appointment type and its appointment category are deactivated, you must first reactivate the appointment category before you can reactivate the appointment type. To view deactivated appointment types and appointment categories on the Appointments page, remove the Status and Category status filters.

In this article:

    To create an appointment category:

    1. Click the App Drawer button .
    2. In the App Drawer, click View All.
    3. In the list, click Setup. You can filter the list by entering Setup into the Search field.
    4. On the Setup menu, click Services.
    5. On the Services menu, click Appointments.
    6. Click Add Category.
    7. Enter the name of the new category.
    8. Click Save.

    To modify an appointment category:

    1. Click the App Drawer button .
    2. In the App Drawer, click View All.
    3. In the list, click Setup. You can filter the list by entering Setup into the Search field.
    4. On the Setup menu, click Services.
    5. On the Services menu, click Appointments.
    6. Find the appointment category you want to modify. You may have to browse the list, use the Search option, or filter the list to find the appointment category.
      • To change a category’s name, click the Edit button , enter the desired name for the category, and click SAVE.
      • To move a category up in the list, click the Move up button .
      • To move a category down in the list, click the Move down button .
      • To move an appointment within a category, select the Tile View button Tile View icon and then click and drag the appointment to the desired spot in the category.
      • To move an appointment to a different category, select the Tile View button Tile View icon and then click and drag the appointment to the desired category.
      • To deactivate an appointment category, click the Deactivate button Deactivate button. This button will only appear when all the appointments within the category are deactivated.
      • To reactivate an appointment category, click the Activate button Activate button.You may have to browse the list, use the Search option, or filter the list to find the deactivated appointment.

    To sort appointments in an appointment category:

    1. Click the App Drawer button .
    2. In the App Drawer, click View All.
    3. In the list, click Setup. You can filter the list by entering Setup into the Search field.
    4. On the Setup menu, click Services.
    5. On the Services menu, click Appointments.
    6. You can either sort the appointments in every appointment category at once or sort the appointments in an individual appointment category:
      • To sort the appointments in every appointment category:
        1. Click the Sort button and select the method by which you want to sort the appointments in every appointment category. Your options include:
          • Name — The appointments in each category will be sorted in an alphanumeric order. Appointments can be sorted A to Z (Ascending) or Z to A (Descending).
          • Duration — The appointments in each category will be sorted based on the length of the service. Appointments can be sorted shortest to longest (Ascending) or longest to shortest (Descending).
          • Price — The appointments in each category will be sorted based on their price. Appointments can be sorted with the lowest priced item listed first (Low to high) or the highest priced item listed first (High to low).
          • Custom — The appointments in each category can be dragged and dropped in the order you want. If you have sorted appointments in a custom order before, when you click Custom, the appointments will be sorted in the last custom order you saved.
      • To sort the appointments in an individual category:
        1. Find the appointment category you want to sort. You may have to browse the list, use the Search option, or filter the list to find the appointment.
        2. Click the Tile view button Tile View icon, and then sort the appointments in the category you want:
          1. Click and drag an appointment to the desired spot in the category.
          2. Click and drag the appointment to a new category.
    7. Click SAVE.
