Troubleshooting: Barcode scanner not scanning


Your barcode scanner is not properly scanning barcodes.


There are several factors that can cause this issue. Review the common troubleshooting steps below.

Common troubleshooting steps:

  1. Ensure that you are using the Motorola DS9208 barcode scanner. This is the scanner that WellnessLiving officially supports.
  2. Check that there is nothing physically interfering with the clarity of the barcodes you are trying to scan. The following factors may cause barcodes to appear unclear to the scanner:
    • For barcodes printed on physical material:
      • Poor quality or warped plastic
      • Translucent or reflective material
    • For barcodes displayed on a screen:
      • Screen is scratched
      • Screen is dusty
      • Brightness of the screen is too low or too high
