Troubleshooting: Link not inserting properly in automated email

Problem

When a client clicks a link in an automated marketing email or an automated email notification, the page does not open.

Solution

This error occurs if an incomplete URL is saved in the email template for an automated marketing campaign or an automated email notification. For example, a URL is missing http:// or https:// at the beginning of the address.

  • If the issue is occurring due to an automated marketing campaign, you will need to go to the email template and fix the URL.
  1. Click the App Drawer button .
  2. In the App Drawer, click Marketing.
  3. In the list, find the marketing campaign you want to modify. You may have to browse the list, use the Search option, or filter the list to find the template.
  4. Under EMAIL, click the Edit this template button.
  5. Under Email Content, select the text with the broken link and click the Insert/edit link button .
  6. Copy and paste a complete URL into the Url box.
  7. Make any additional changes and click Ok.
  8. Click SAVE.
  • If the issue is occurring due to an automated email notification, you will need to go to the email template and fix the URL.
  1. Click the App Drawer button .
  2. In the App Drawer, click Setup.
  3. On the Setup menu, click Notifications.
  4. On the Notifications menu, click Client Notifications or Staff Notifications depending on the automated email notification you want to modify.
  5. In the list, find the automated email notification you want to modify. You may have to browse the list, use the Search option, or filter the list to find the template.
  6. Under EMAIL, click the Edit this template button .
  7. Under Email Content, select the text with the broken link and click the Insert/edit link button .
  8. Copy and paste a complete URL into the Url box.
  9. Make any additional changes and click Ok.
  10. Click SAVE.
