Purchase rules

Purchase rules allow you to specify when and how clients pay for your services. The tables below outline the purchase rules you may choose from for your Appointments, Classes, and Events. To learn about rules for BOOK-A-SPOT™ assets, see BOOK-A-SPOT™ asset settings.

Appointment purchase rules

Purchase Rule
Description
Client must purchase online at the time of booking
Select this option to require the client to pay for this Appointment right away when they book online. This means clients must pay for the Appointment online before attending.
Clients can only pay when they visit. Online payment is not available.
Select this option to require the client to pay for this Appointment in person. This means online payment options will be unavailable and the client will pay when they attend the Appointment.
Online Payment is optional. Client will pay for the service when they visit.
Select this option to allow the client to pay for this Appointment in person or online. This means they can pay for the Appointment before attending or when they attend.
Client must authorize a credit card at the time of booking.
Select this option to require clients to use an authorized credit card to book this Appointment. This means an authorized payment will be required before attending the Appointment.
Client must leave a deposit at the time of booking.
Select this option to require a deposit from the client when they book the Appointment. This means the client must pay the amount you specify before attending, then pay in full when they attend.
When you select this option, a field and list are displayed. Determine whether the deposit should be a flat amount or a percentage of the Appointment cost by selecting Flat or Percent from the list. Then, enter the desired flat amount or percentage in the field.

Class purchase rules

Description
Sell individual sessions
Select this option to allow clients to purchase one-time sessions of this Class. This means that clients will be able to purchase a Class without a pass or membership. Enter the desired cost of each Class in the COST PER SESSION box.
Do not sell individual sessions. Must be paid using Purchase Options
Select this option to require that clients have a related Purchase Option to purchase and attend this Class. This means that clients must have a pass or membership to attend this Class.
Client must purchase online at the time of booking
Select this option to require the client to pay for this Class right away when they book online. This means clients must pay for the Class online before attending.
Clients can only pay when they visit. Online payment is not available
Select this option to require the client to pay for this Class in person. This means that online payment options will be unavailable and the client will pay when they attend the Class.
Clients can pay online or pay when they visit
Select this option to allow the client to pay for this Class in person or online. This means that they can pay for the Class before attending or when they attend.
Display available purchase options during bookingSelect this option to display Purchase Options that can be used to pay for the Class when clients are booking this Class.
Hide available purchase options. Client must pay the individual service cost.Select this option to hide Purchase Options that can be used to pay for the Class when clients are booking this Class. Clients will be required to pay the price per session when they book this Class.

Event purchase rules

Client must purchase online at the time of booking
Select this option to require the client to pay for this Event right away when they book online. This means clients must pay for the Event online before attending.
Clients can only pay when they visit. Online payment is not available
Select this option to require the client to pay for this Event in person. This means that online payment options will be unavailable and the client will pay when they attend the Event.
Clients can pay online or pay when they visit
Select this option to allow the client to pay for this Event in person or online. This means that they can pay for the Event before attending or when they attend.
Client must leave a deposit at the time of booking.
Select this option to require a deposit from the client when they book the Event. This means that the client must pay the amount that you specify before attending, then pay in full when they attend.
When you select this option, a field and list are displayed. Determine whether the deposit should be a flat amount or a percentage of the Event cost by selecting Flat or Percent from the list. Then, enter the desired flat amount or percentage in the field.
NoteIf you select this option, then clients will be unable to use any payment plans you set up.

All sessions are booked automatically when purchased
Select this option to require the client to book all sessions of this Event together. This means clients will be required to book every session of the Event if they want to attend any part of the Event. If this option is chosen, select one of the following purchase rules:
  • Clients must pre-register before the start of the event - Select this option to allow clients to book a spot in the Event until it begins. Once the Event begins, clients will no longer be able to register.

  • Clients can enroll into an event that is in progress - Select this option to allow clients to book a spot in the Event until it ends. During the Event, clients will be able to register for the remainder of the Event.

Note After an Event with the purchase rule Clients can select which sessions to enroll into after purchasing has been created, and a session of the Event has been scheduled, the Event cannot be modified to have the purchase rule All sessions are booked automatically when purchased. This limitation exists because the initial purchase rule allows individual sessions to be booked, while the other requires that all sessions are booked at once. If the purchase rule could be changed, a client who booked an individual session at a per session rate would be required to book all sessions at a block rate. To avoid this type of conflict, this change cannot be made. If you need to make this change to an Event, we recommend creating a new Event with the desired purchase rule.
Clients can select which sessions to enroll into after purchasing
Select this option to allow the sessions of this Event to be booked separately from one another. This means that clients will be able to choose the parts of the Event that they want to participate in.
NoteTo allow clients to use a Purchase Option to pay for an Event, you must select this option and Clients must book the entire event, or choose a purchase option or Clients can only buy purchase option for this event.
Clients can purchase individual sessions Select this option to allow clients to pay for only the sessions that they participate in. Enter the cost per session in the labelled field. This option cannot be selected if you chose All sessions are booked automatically when purchased.
Clients must book the entire event, or choose a purchase optionSelect this option to require that clients purchase the entire Event. An applicable Purchase Option can be used only if it covers the entire Event.
Client can only buy purchase option for this eventSelect this option to require that clients use an applicable Purchase Option to purchase the entire Event.
Display available purchase options during bookingSelect this option to show Purchase Options that can be used to pay for the Event when clients are booking this Event.
Hide available purchase options. Client must pay the individual service cost.Select this option to hide Purchase Options that can be used to pay for the Event when clients are booking this Event. This will require that clients pay the block price or price per session when they book this Event.
This option cannot be selected if you chose Client can only buy purchase option for this event.
