Really exciting class -- we walked out of there tonight ranting and raving about how great an instructor Kade is and how much we learned in just this, my first class. Can't wait to go back on Tuesday. We are sooo excited to have been able to sign up for this!! #EXCELLENT!!
“ Kade is the consummate professional instructor; he is highly skilled yet very approachable, teaching discipline mixed with a measure of humor. He can push you to new limits without exceeding your capabilities…” student testimonial - Richard A Steele
A student of the martial arts for the last 26 years, since 1987, and has been teaching for over 14 years. Kade has had the opportunity to train with a broad spectrum of teachers and fellow students.
Kade began his martial arts training as a teenager. His love of the athleticism combined with theory, tradition and history led him to train with Master Yi and his top students. He experienced both “internal” and “external” systems, including the eclectic Korean art of the South Korean Special Forces, Tukong Moosul. His interest in T’ai Chi began with the Korean style Ip Sun.
His love for T’ai Chi and other internal martial arts lead him to apprentice with Sifu Tom Gohring and under his tutelage he grew to fill the position of Chief T’ai Chi Instructor and Program Director at Tom Gohring’s School of T’ai Chi in Austin, Texas.
Kade’s style of teaching, developed over the last several years, combines individual attention and group focus. His easy going manner and love of teaching give students confidence and faith in his abilities. He brings together his ability to tailor instruction to each individual and his ability to communicate the subtles of an ancient art to modern students to make T’ai Chi accessible to those who train with him.
Though his primary focus has been teaching, Kade’s love of learning has lead him to deepen his knowledge of T’ai Chi and the internal arts. Sifu Tom Gohring, student of Grand Master Cheng Jin Cai, began training Kade in Chen Style T’ai Chi. He has trained with Sifu Symon Stanley, one of the senior students of Master Zhang, in the Taoist arts of Xing Yi, Ba Gua, and T’ai Chi from 2000 - 2003. 2001 - 2004 Kade trained with Horacio Lopez, student of Master Yang Zhenduo, 4th Generation Standard Bearer of the YangFamily, in order to expand his knowledge of T’ai Chi.
Not only has Kade learned from Masters of many different arts but his profound respect for his students and classmates allows him to learn from each one of them. He gains new insight from each individual and incorporates those insights into his teaching.
Kade is a GST (Gohring's School of T'AI CHI) certified teacher in Yang style forms, Chi Gong (Chinese Yoga) and Weapon Forms (including Sabre, Double Edged Sword and Staff).
Kade has developed programs and taught Tai Chi for Motorola, LandMark Graphics, Heritage Duval Gardens, Universityof Texas Recreational Sports T'ai Chi program, City of Austin Senior Activity Centers, and other businesses.
