Massage, bodywork and the healing arts are my life’s work. My
passion for the healing arts is demonstrated through my deep roots
in the massage community. I am a board certified massage therapist
(BCTMB), licensed massage therapist in Tennessee #6935 and Alabama
#1747. I offer holistic massage therapy services to the Memphis
community through my private practice at Opulence Massage in
Memphis, TN. I am a professional massage educator to massage
therapy professionals as a National Certification Board for
Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB) approved provider. I am
a volunteer massage therapist for many organizations to include:
Race for the Cure, Healing Heroes Network, The Church Health Center
and The Ronald McDonald House for Saint Jude. I am the co-founder
and co-director of the Memphis Massage Professionals organization.
I am a professional member of the American Massage Therapy
Association (AMTA-TN) and the Association of Massage and Body Work
Professionals (ABMP). I am also a certified BLS CPR instructor for
the American Heart Association.
I have had so many amazing teachers in my life. My triplets are
probably one of the greatest teachers. They have taught me
organization and patience. I call so many others teacher as I have
traveled this journey of learning throughout my life. My students,
fellow massage therapists, clients, formal teachers, family,
friends and interesting strangers I have met along the way have all
contributed to my knowledge. My professional education and training
began with my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Auburn
University in Marketing Education. I taught high school for seven
years as a marketing and vocational teacher in public high schools.
I returned to formal education at Gadsden State Community college
earning my massage therapy foundational training to become a
certified massage therapist. My massage education continued after
my professional practice began and continues to be part of my
journey as a massage practitioner.
I have been fortunate to train with creative, brilliant people!
I was an apprentice to Patricia Casebere LMT, RN. Patricia was a
direct apprentice of Dr. Janet Travell the founder of trigger point
therapy. I credit Patricia with lighting my path for massage by
teaching me so many hands on techniques. Under Patricia’s
supervision, I learned many massage and bodywork methods. The
method I treasure learning the most from Patricia was TMJ massage.
She passed down to me the methods and procedures for doing TMJ
massage as she learned them form Dr. Travell. I have 50 hours of
training in Vedic Thai Massage from Michael “Mukti” Buck. I am a
certified Nurturing the Mother Fertility, Pregnancy, Post-Partum,
Labor Support and Infant Massage practitioner. I have training in
reflexology, cranial sacral massage, oncology massage with Cheryl
Chapman who is a pioneer in massage for cancer and mastectomy. I
have advanced training in traditional chinese medicine,
breathing/relaxation/meditation methods, hot stone massage, trigger
point therapy, muscle energy technique (MET), active isolated
stretching and myofascial release.
I believe in healing the entire body through connecting the
physical body with the conscious mind. By opening my heart and
listening to my client’s voice and their body, I enter into the
healing journey with each client. I integrate all the methods and
techniques that have been passed down to me through the years to
achieve balance and healing for my client’s.
Healing and maintaining balance in the physical body and the
conscious mind is a journey. It would be an honor to join you in
your wellness and healing journey.
