Mr. David Odegaard, Principal Instructor of Double Bass,
Jazz Bass, Electric Bass
Mr. Odegaard holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from
The University of Central Florida and a Master’s degree in Music
Theory from Southern Methodist University. Mr. Odegaard studied
double bass with Lee Eubank, principle of the Florida Symphony and
Tom Lederer, co-principle of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and is a
lifetime member of the International Society of Bassists.
Mr. Odegaard offers instrumental training on classical double bass,
jazz bass, electric bass in all styles, and instruction in music
theory for ages 9 to adult. Lessons are tailored to foster success
with all learning styles and to continually challenge each student
to reach beyond their current ability using motivating repertoire.
Mr. Odegaard has proven student success with numerous winners in
the Texas All State competitions and high ranking placements in
Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra where he served several seasons as
bass section coach.
Mr. Odegaard performed as principle bassist with the New
Philharmonic Orchestra of Irving and has also performed with the
Dallas Wind Symphony, Plano Symphony, Plano Civic Chorus, Arlington
Master Chorale, numerous church orchestras and contemporary
Christian productions, and most recently at the Cumberland County
Playhouse, and is currently the Principle bassist of the Oak Ridge
Symphony Orchestra. Highlights also include performances with the
national tours of Chicago, Titanic, Ragtime, The Music of Andrew
Lloyd Webber, and countless professional theater and special event
productions.
