Mira Riselli began playing the piano at the age of four and later began playing electric
bass at the age of 13 and upright bass at age 15. She was raised in Calgary, Alberta, where her
love of jazz was fostered by her involvement in jazz bands in middle school, high school and the
JazzYYC Youth Lab Band. In 2015, she completed the Royal Conservatory of Music's Grade 8
Piano with First Class Honours and Advanced Rudiments with First Class Honours with
Distinction. In 2016, Mira moved to Toronto to complete her Bachelor of Music in Jazz
Performance at the University of Toronto on Upright Bass and graduated in 2020. In 2020, she
was the recipient of the University of Toronto Ken Dean Memorial Fellowship, a University of
Toronto Leadership award, and the winner of the NUMUS Emerging Improvisor contest. She is
currently enrolled in the University of Toronto Master of Music in Jazz Performance and is
expected to graduate in 2022. She has performed at numerous venues across Calgary and
Toronto, including The Ironwood, Kawa Café, and the King Eddy in Calgary, as well as The
Rex, the Emmet Ray, and the TRANZAC in Toronto.
