Pilates has had such a positive impact on my life, I look forward to my sessions with Mara, her professionalism and calm teaching methods make learning enjoyable.
I have always been active – walking, biking, aerobics but I
realized my strength was lacking and in 2002, I turned to Pilates.
Over the years I have studied Stott Pilates, Polestar Pilates and
several variations in between at studios all over the country and
in private sessions. My main focus for all of those years was
practice on the Reformer.
I came to Concord Pilates 3 years ago for private sessions and Mara
convinced me to try group equipment classes as well as mat classes.
Concord Pilates has taught me more about the movement and my body
more than any of the other studio I have been in. The method here
is to be precise and to know what YOUR body can do. It’s a very
different approach from many other studios.
The teacher training program with Mara has been comprehensive – the
anatomy of how our bodies move fascinates me. Knowing the exercises
and how the bones and muscles work together to create movement is a
very complex process and I enjoy the challenge of putting what I
have learned into practice.
What motivates me:
An overall sense of well-being. When things are out of balance
they can go off track quickly. If I keep at exercise, it’s easier
to eat better and sleep better. Everything is connected. The
healthiest older people I know keep moving and are mentally and
physically active. I love seeing people with a joie de vivre as

Consistency. Keep at it, the more you practice the better you
will be. With consistent practice you will feel better and find you
are able to things you couldn’t before and you will become

When I see a student able to do something they have struggled
with before. It’s a great feeling to master a movement that was
once so difficult.
My mission in every class is:
To help everyone feel better and move better during their everyday
activities and maybe we can have a little fun while challenging our
My biggest challenge is:
Balance in every aspect. Not just the One-Leg Balance, but balance
between work, home and life in general.
My personal fitness achievement is:
Oh, lots of things! Taking the Teacher Training Courses in both
Mat and Apparatus here at Concord Pilates, I have learned so much
and have been able to challenge myself to perform exercises that
seemed impossible once upon a time.
When I’m not at work I am:
Working! My husband and I have an import business that is a new
startup, so there is a lot of work to be done. I also like to read,
knit, garden and drink a lot of espresso.
