Shelley grew up in Southern California, and although she
occasionally misses California,
she loves being a Midwestern girl!
Shelley is a Certified Movement Specialist and teaches Barre,
MOTR, MELT, and Fuse Ladder. She is completing her comprehensive
Pilates certification to be an NCPT. In addition to being certified
in Balanced Body and Fuse Ladder Modalities Shelley is currently
President of the Service League of Crystal Lake.
Shelley found that Pilates and Fitness is a pivotal part of
her wellness routine after experiencing acute hip pain while
training for the Chicago Marathon. After developing a regular
practice, she decided instructing Pilates and teaching Fitness
would be a perfect second career. Shelley loves to learn alongside
the community at 416 Pilates. Anytime spent with people, in motion,
and specifically in Pilates class is time well spent!
Shelley uses the principles of Pilates to help students of all
levels and ages find balance, strength, flexibility, a lean body,
and spinal mobility. As Joseph Pilates said. “If your spine is
inflexibly stiff at 30, you are old. If it is completely flexible
at 60, you are young."
Her teaching style creates a focus on body awareness. Expect a
challenge with some lighthearted fun!
Shelley can be described as passionate and authentic.
Shelley has been married for 20 years and has three grown
children.
She loves her community and spends a great deal of time
volunteering to assist those in need, including animals. In her
free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and dogs, doing
a variety of fitness activities (Pilates, running, tennis, golf,
paddle boarding, snowshoeing), and spending time with
friends.
