Thank you to all who make the Pilates Room & Antigravity studio possible.  There are a lot of reasons why it is a great resource center for all around fun, health, and super good vibes.  So far I have only gone to the Fascial Refresh class with Chimene but I have plans to try the Floating meditation class, the Tai chi class, yoga class and bungee class (probably lots more too).  

The Fascial Refresh is like getting a re-introduction to your body's inner structure and world by a seasoned and loving guide (aka Chimene) -- it's an exploration of how we feel, how our body works, with so much care and compassion rolled into it. You will be guided as to how to maximally receive the benefits of each movement from the smallest joint in your foot to your overall musculo-skeletal-energetic structures.

And it's fun.  The location is wonderful, on the edge of Fall Creek, close to Ithaca Falls, a restaurant, with easy access by foot, bike or car. There is so much offered at the center that I won't try to express it all (their website does that) but I'm definitely glad I have finally made it over there and plan to spend a lot of time exploring and increasing my health under the care of all the wonderful instructors there.  

Plus, fresh water, great teas, and so much more......you'll be glad you checked it out once you do!

After reaching her goal of competing internationally as a member of he USA National Karate Team in her late teens, Chimêne Montivero-Cole graduated with a masters degree in Science in Physical Therapy, and a minor in Nutirtion Promotion from Ithaca College in 1999. In addition to holding multiple professional Pilates certification, including Pilates Method Alliance and STOTT PILATES®, she has been a licensed Physical Therapist working in outpatient orthopedics since 1999, and prides herself in actively pursuing continuing education and developing as a movement specialist.

Her experience includes rehabilitation of a wide variety of spinal and sacroiliac disorders, movement impairments sydromes due to muscle imbalances, and pre and post surgery rehabilitation.  She has studied the M.E.L.T method and various self mobilization techniques and incorpates them into her Pilates practice as needed.  She is FMS Rock Tape certified, which can be used to increase circulation, and enhance performance and efficency of movement. Recently, she has attained a NeuroKinetic Therapy Certification.  NKT is a system for assessing and optimizing neuromuscular communication to improve motor control and reprogram dysunfctional movement patterns.

Montivero-Cole and Brown opened the region's first Pilates studio, The PILATES Room , in 2001. They created and trademarked AQUALATES® - Pilates Inspired Aquatics in 2006. With an emphasis on client education, the pair continue to expand upon their personal certifications with several hours of continuing education every year, and offer their clients and students superior insight into the benefits of movement.
