What is Feldenkrais?
The Feldenkrais Method® is an educational system that uses movement to teach self awareness and improve function. There are two modalities in the Feldenkrais Method: Functional Integrations® (FI) and Awareness Through Movement® (ATM).
Functional Integration (FI): FI lessons are private, hands-on session, custom tailored to the needs of the individual student. Typically, the student lies on a table or sits on a chair, and is led through an exploration of movement through skilled manipulation. The touch is gentle and non-invasive. By finding the easy patterns and habits of movement the lessons result in increased ease and grace and a lessening of unnecessary tension. This fully clothed process is gentle and safe. Lessons last between 45-60 minutes.
