Adults who have guitar playing experience or have already taken a level 1 class are encouraged to register in level 2 or 3. If you are unsure which class level is the best fit, please contact us.

Level 1
This customized program will have you jamming with your friends and kids in no time! Explore strumming patterns and rhythms, learn introductory picking techniques and build a collection of your favourite tunes. No prior musical experience is necessary, this class is for absolute beginners.

What you need to bring to class: 

• A guitar. Chinook School of Music rents guitars for $27.00 per month +GST. Please arrive early to your class if you require a rental. 

• A 3-ring binder or folder to keep sheet music and notes in and a pen or pencil.

• Guitar picks. Picks can be purchased in packs for $7.00 +GST at Chinook School of Music.

• Please bring a guitar tuner. Chinook School of Music sells Snark Tuners for $29.99. You can also download the “Guitar Tuna” app for your smartphone which works as a tuner. Click for Apple. Click for Android.

Group Class Refund Policy

This program is non-refundable after the first class of the session. Refunds issued prior to the first class are subject to a $50 administration fee. Students wishing to withdraw from the class and transfer to private lessons or another program during the session may transfer the remainder of their balance with no penalty. Refunds and credits are not provided for student absences. Any classes canceled by an instructor will be made up at the end of the session.
