SueDescription
Come experience the transformative power of this meditative practice!
What is Yoga
Nidra?
The Sanskrit word Nidra translates to 'sleep', although Conscious
Meditative Awareness is a more accurate description.
Yoga Nidra is a practice which gently
illuminates the deepest corners of our subconscious mind. From here
we can change old outdated belief systems, and work towards
eliminating the root cause of suffering.
What to expect:
There will be some light physical practice and breathwork before
the meditation so please wear comfortable clothing.
During the meditative portion you will be
lying down on a mat, or if needed, a bolster.
We will have time for integration after the practice, so please
bring a journal and pen.
Why should I practice Yoga
Nidra?
During our lifetime we can accumulate and
internalize false beliefs which can become more harmful to our
mental and physical health as we age. Our mental state directly
effects the quality of the interactions we have with others. But,
because these beliefs get stored deep in our subconscious we often
are not aware of them directly, only by the ripples they create.
Yoga Nidra helps to unearth these beliefs and gives us the tools to
change them.
About the Instructor - Sue Armstrong:
Sue is a Registered 500 Hr Hatha Yoga Teacher. She has been practicing over 20 years and in 2016, she travelled to India to complete her Yoga Teacher Training. Aside from teaching yoga in Canada, Sue is also the co-founder and co-creator of Vishnu Yoga Shala, a Yoga Teacher Training School in Rishikesh, India. She is a teacher of Classical Hatha, Ashtanga Vinyasa, Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra as well as Pranayama and Yogic Philosophy.
Aside from yoga, Sue is also an Intuitive Coach, Reiki Master, Angel and Energy Healing Practitioner and Certified Holistic Health Practitioner.
Sue's yoga classes focus on the principles of classical Hatha, which has its roots in authentic tantric practices. These practices are meant to align the body and mind to find our center of peace and serenity within.
The practices themselves combine simple movements aligned with the breath to warm up the body before deeper asana practice in order to move prana and reduce injury.
These movements also anchor the mind into the body. Its practices were designed to set aside the ego, stabilize the mind, develop more self-compassion and connection to the self. As a now well-known quote states “yoga is the path of the self, through the self, to the self”. As we continue to practice yoga, we begin to appreciate this meaning.
