Preschool playgroups are designed to offer children a mini-preschool like experience. Join this small group setting with10 other children in the studio for 30-40 minutes of stories, songs, and conversation followed by small group art, sensory and manipulatives activities guided by an early childhood educator! The style of learning in this playgroup is “play based” - children will be learning through hands on, exploratory experiences inside the studio. Hands on art projects, music and movement, socialization with other children, stories.
Learning in a play based setting looks like - drawing (fine motor development), messy art (sensory regulation), scooping and pouring (measurement and mathematical thinking), listening to a story and discussing (literacy and group setting experience) ect.
Studio time is followed by playtime in the playroom, reunited with the supervision of their caregiver and time to play with their new friends!
Playtime in the playspace is included in registration for playgroups - the purpose behind this is to give the children more time together to engage with their new friends!
Children over 3, have the option of joining class independently (caregiver stays on site and are welcome to join if desired!) If your child is apprehensive about being dropped off, please discuss a plan with your teacher before class - we can create a plan to help ease your child into independently visiting the class.
Infant siblings are welcome to tag along with caregivers or sign up for a play pass in the play area.
Instructions Spéciales :
After our classroom time 30-40 minutes, the children will be reunited with their parents and invited into the play space for open playtime with their new friends.
Please bring socks for the play area (or we have them available to purchase for $2).
Please send your child in play clothes - while all of our art materials are non-toxic and washable, they still may leave stains in some fabrics. We do offer smocks, however paint and art materials can always find a way!
If your child is upset about being separated from their caregiver, we will ask the parent to come back into the studio/classroom for the remainder of class. Sometimes it may take a couple of visits before a child is ready to be independent.
Since this is a play based group setting, your child may not come home with a physical product/creation. We value the process of making over the final product.
