Please join us for an evening of Kirtan and an introduction to Bhakti Yoga, the art of all activity!
Yoga means to connect and Bhakti means dedication or devotion. One of the processes of Bhakti Yoga is Kirtan, the singing of devotional songs and mantras originating from India.
We will be sharing a traditional style Kirtan using only the mrdanga drum and karatales. This is not a Kirtan performance but a sharing of the practice of Kirta, in call-and-response style, as a way to connect with and glorify the Supreme Center.
Most songs are in the original Bengali language, and some are sanskrit mantras. Following the Kirtan we will have a short introductory class on the basic principles and practices of Bhakti Yoga, and the evening will conclude with a delicious vegetarian meal.
Everyone and all levels are welcome, and everyone is encouraged to participate. No experience necessary!
This event is open to all & free of charge, but donations are welcome and appreciated.
We do have some mats and bolsters to share at the studio, but if you have a yoga mat, meditation cushion, or bolster you would like to bring, that would be lovely.
We look forward to seeing you there!
