Multi-disciplinary artist Valentine Aprile will guide participants through this unique and exciting program focusing on capturing the figure in motion and suspended flight. The workshop will begin with a short series of traditional gesture drawings ranging from a few seconds to one minute.

Participants will continue sketching while the model transitions to the dance segment followed by aerial hoop/lyra, during which, you will have the rare opportunity to draw from a model in flight.

The model will vary their aerial work between short hanging still poses, sequential choreography, and still poses in flight.

Each new segment will begin with a drawing demonstration and short discussion regarding considerations and techniques used for exploring and expressing dynamic figurative movement on the page.

Ms. Aprile’s own background in dance and aerial arts enables her to provide specific choreography tailored for the needs of the workshop. Participants will see this choreographic process in action, much like watching a rehearsal. Individual guidance will also be offered to artists throughout the workshop.

Note: This is not a traditional yoga or aerial arts workshop; participants will drawing and sketching throughout. Abstract artists interested in movement are welcome to attend as well.
