Join us for this exciting and experiential theatre class for
children with disabilities. Come explore the transformative power
of artistic expression through theater activities led by drama
students from the School for the Creative and Performing Arts at
Lafayette Senior High School in a fun and safe environment.
Experience the freedom to try new things and make mistakes. Through
theatre-based play and activities this workshop will encourage and
build essential life skills. Learn emotion recognition, nonverbal
gestures, eye contact, listening skills, suitable greetings, and
farewells. Additional focus will also be placed on developing
conversation skills including volume control, manners, and
conversation etiquette through repeated practice.
Jacob Ernst is a Senior at Lafayette High School and has been a drama student at Lexington's School for the Creative and Performing Arts (SCAPA) since the 4th grade. He believes passionately in the transformative power of theatre as art and has always advocated strongly for the right for persons with disabilities to be included wherever and whenever possible. In searching for a way to make an impact within his community, Jacob began thinking of a way to make these two worlds collide. From that, the idea for THE SPOTLITE - Lexington's Inclusive Theatre Ensemble - was born.
